The Oscilloscope tool of the Resource Explorer allows to visualize the analog and digital input signals of the Oscilloscope blocks added by the user to the project diagram. By selecting one component in the Oscilloscope list of the Resource Explorer and press the “View” button the following window will be displayed. The name of the window reports the user defined name for the selected Oscilloscope and its address in hexadecimal notation.

Here the user can select from the list on the left the channels he wants to visualize in the plot, choosing between the not empty inputs of the correspondent block. By flagging the “All channels” the shape of all the input signals will be added to the plot. By selecting a channel, all the connected signals of that channel (analog and digitals) will be shown in the plot with the same color. The user can also choose the “Trigger Mode”: the “Auto” option is constantly refreshing the plot, displaying the last acquired image in case of no trigger, and the “Single” option is updating the image only one time.

The “Trigger Source” can be selected between “External”, to use the signal trigger provided to the block, “Free Running”, to acquire periodically a waveform without setting a trigger for the oscilloscope, and “Channel x " to use the analog signal from one of the inputs as a trigger. In this last case, as the trigger is leading edge, the “Trigger Edge” should be chosen between the “Rising” and the “Falling” edge of the signal. The threshold of the trigger can be set by writing a value in lsb in the “Trigger Level (lsb)” field or by moving the correspondent trackbar.

It is possible to modify the number of nanosecond per division in the “Horizontal (ns/div)” field or the correspondent trackbar and the percentage of the signal position with respect to the zero using the “Pre Trigger (%)” filed or the corespondent trackbar. Once all the parameters have been set, the user can start the acquisition by clicking the inline image button. In order to stop the data acquisition in case of the “Auto” operation of the “Trigger Mode” the user can click the inline image button.

The “STATUS” label indicates if the Oscilloscope is idle, is waiting for trigger or if it has done the signal acquisition. Some shortcuts are also available to zoom the signal: the “v” key enables the zoom in the Y direction, the “h” key enables the zoom in the X direction, the “z” key enables the zoom in both the X and Y directions. Then by using the left mouse button it is possible to select the area to be zoomed. Finally, the “u” key zooms out the plot. On the top right corner of the plot are shown the coordinates of the data point that is under the mouse cursor.
